Blue and gold identify the original left and right halves, not the literal paper colors. Darker shades show the reverse. Orange highlights moving paper and its hinge.

PREPARATION · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Prepare the square
Place the square with horizontal edges and the intended fruit color facing up. Use contrasting paper sides for a visible rind.
Layers: One uncut square.
Check: The top and bottom edges are level.

Crease across the middle
Bring the lower edge to the upper edge and crease.
Layers: Move the entire lower half.
Check: The horizontal edges coincide.
Explore this step ↑STEP 2 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Reopen the square
Return the lower half to the table.
Layers: Open the same half.
Check: A horizontal center crease remains.

Fold the upper right corner
Make a crease from the right edge midpoint to a point 1 inch left of the upper right corner. Fold the corner inward.
Layers: Move one corner triangle.
Check: A reverse-side strip appears on the upper right.
Explore this step ↑STEP 4 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Fold the upper left corner
Mirror that fold from the left edge midpoint to a point 1 inch right of the upper left corner.
Layers: Move one corner triangle.
Check: The upper corners match.

Fold the lower right corner
Repeat below the center, using the right edge midpoint and a point 1 inch left of the lower right corner.
Layers: Move the lower corner triangle.
Check: The reverse side frames the right half.
Explore this step ↑STEP 6 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Fold the lower left corner
Mirror the lower corner fold on the left.
Layers: Move the final corner triangle.
Check: The four corner folds form a symmetric frame.

Fold the upper rind
Turn a quarter-inch band down along the current upper edge.
Layers: Carry every layer above the crease.
Check: A narrow contrasting strip runs across the top.
Explore this step ↑STEP 8 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Fold the lower rind
Turn a quarter-inch band up along the lower edge.
Layers: Carry every layer below the crease.
Check: The upper and lower bands match.
Explore this step ↑STEP 9 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Bevel the upper right behind
On the top edge mark 1.25 inches right of center. Fold the corner behind on a 45-degree line sloping down to the right.
Layers: Carry the complete corner, including its rind.
Check: The outer top-right outline becomes diagonal.
Explore this step ↑STEP 10 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Bevel the upper left behind
Mirror the previous corner fold on the left.
Layers: Move the full left corner packet away.
Check: Both upper bevels match.
Explore this step ↑STEP 11 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Bevel the lower right behind
Mirror the upper-right bevel below the middle crease.
Layers: Move the complete lower corner away.
Check: The right outline is symmetric above and below center.
Explore this step ↑STEP 12 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Bevel the lower left behind
Repeat at the final corner.
Layers: Carry the full corner packet.
Check: The four outer bevels match.
Explore this step ↑STEP 13 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Shorten the right point
Fold the tiny right point behind on a vertical line 2.75 inches right of center.
Layers: Carry all layers at the point.
Check: The side has a short vertical edge.
Explore this step ↑STEP 14 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Shorten the left point
Mirror the tiny fold 2.75 inches left of center.
Layers: Carry the whole small corner.
Check: The sides match.
Explore this step ↑STEP 15 · Origami Club construction; measured adaptation
Close the fruit slice
Fold the upper half away from you along the original horizontal center crease. Optionally draw seeds on the exposed front.
Layers: Carry the entire upper half behind the lower half.
Check: The broad straight top sits above a rind-framed slice.

Adaptation: Follows the seven-panel Water Melon diagram. Four corner folds expose the reverse side, narrow top and bottom hems form the rind, and backward bevels round the outline before the final half fold. Exact corner and hem widths are authored. Accuracy notes
Real-paper follow-along and paper weight have not been tested. Diagrams illustrate the sequence, not paper thickness, contact, collisions or exact layer visibility. One uncut square with original material coordinates and rigid hinge motions. Shaping distances are authored teaching landmarks, not measurements supplied by the reference. Zero-thickness teaching diagrams do not certify thickness, contact or physical foldability. Real-paper folding has not been tested.
