Fold only
Origami Rabbit Face
Fold a narrow band along a paper triangle, then raise both sides to make long rabbit ears. Turn the whole piece over to finish a simple bunny face, ready for optional drawn eyes and a nose.

Prepare the square
Set the square like a diamond, with a corner pointing up. Put the color you want for the face underneath.
Layers: One whole, uncut sheet.
Check: The left and right corners are level; all four sides are equal.

Make a broad triangle
Raise the bottom corner to the top corner. Match the two sloping edges and press the long horizontal base.
Layers: Lift the entire lower half.
Check: Two free tips meet at the top of a wide triangle.

Mark the center
Bring the right base corner onto the left base corner and press the vertical fold.
Layers: Both right-hand layers travel together.
Check: The base corners meet and the top point stays on the hinge.

Reopen the triangle
Open only the fold you just made. Return the right corner to the right and lay the triangle flat.
Layers: Return both layers together without opening the first diagonal fold.
Check: A vertical center crease runs from the top to the base midpoint.

Raise the bottom band
Measure the triangle height along the center crease. Mark its halfway point (about 2.12 inches above the base). Lift the long bottom edge to that mark, keep it horizontal and crease halfway between the old edge and the mark.
Layers: Fold both layers of the entire bottom strip together. The upper triangle stays flat.
Check: The raised edge reaches half the original height; the new lowest edge is the hinge, one-quarter of the height (about 1.06 inches) above the old base.

Raise the right ear
Fold the right side upward so the right half of the new lowest edge lies along the vertical center crease. Press the diagonal hinge starting at the new base midpoint.
Layers: Carry the whole right packet, including every layer of the narrow band. Keep the central upper triangle still.
Check: The right tip points up beside the center, making a long, narrow ear.

Raise the left ear
Repeat on the left. Bring the left half of the new lowest edge onto the center crease and press flat.
Layers: Carry the whole left packet and its band layers. Keep the first ear in place.
Check: The inner edges meet along the center; the two long tips remain separated above them.

Turn over the rabbit face
Turn the entire piece over from side to side, keeping the ears pointing up. The simple rabbit face is complete.
Layers: Move every layer together; do not unfold the band or either ear.
Check: A broad diamond-shaped face covers the ear roots, with two narrow ears sticking up behind it.

Draw a face if you like
Optionally draw two eyes across the middle of the diamond and a little nose below them. Leave the paper plain if you prefer.
Layers: Optional pen marks only; no extra folds or pieces.
Check: Your flat rabbit head is finished, with two long ears and a pointed chin.

Adaptation: Uses the complete simple face at source step 9, where the source explicitly permits stopping and drawing a face. The later optional forehead, chin and cheek shaping is omitted. Uses an exact 6-inch square and an authored band depth within the source’s adjustable-band instruction: the hinge is one-quarter of the triangle height above the base, so the bottom edge rises to half-height. This deeper band makes the exposed ears longer and wider. Both whole side packets, including the folded band, rise with the new bottom edge aligned to the center. The center fold and reopening are separate actions. This is a flat head, not a full rabbit or a hopping model.

Accuracy notes
Real-paper follow-along and paper weight have not been tested. Diagrams illustrate the sequence, not paper thickness, contact, collisions or exact layer visibility. One 36-square-inch sheet, rigid hinges, complete band and ear packets, continuous original-material seams and a whole-sheet turnover. Zero-thickness teaching geometry; thickness and contact are not simulated. Real-paper folding has not been tested.
