Fold only
Flat Origami Rocket
Make a flat rocket picture with a contrasting nose and two real folded fins. A top band, paired corner folds and two outward return folds shape one uncut square. This is a display model, not a paper airplane or a flying rocket.

Prepare the square
Place the square with level edges and the intended nose color facing down.
Layers: One uncut square.
Check: Each side measures 6 inches.
Explore this step ↑STEP 1 · Origami Club Rocket · flat display sequence
Crease the vertical center
Bring the right edge to the left edge and press the fold.
Layers: Move the entire right half.
Check: The side edges and corners coincide.

Reopen the square
Return the right half fully to the table.
Layers: Open the same half.
Check: A vertical center crease remains.
Explore this step ↑STEP 3 · Origami Club Rocket · flat display sequence
Crease the horizontal center
Bring the bottom edge up to the top edge and press the fold.
Layers: Move the entire lower half.
Check: The horizontal edges coincide.

Open the cross guides
Lower the folded half completely.
Layers: Open the same lower half.
Check: Two center creases cross in the middle of the square.

Fold the top band down
Bring the top edge down to the horizontal center crease. The new fold is 1.5 inches below the original top edge.
Layers: Move the upper quarter of the sheet.
Check: A doubled band sits above the center crease.

Turn to the plain side
Turn the entire shortened rectangle over from side to side. Keep the folded band at the top.
Layers: Carry the band with the whole sheet.
Check: The band is now underneath the plain face.

Fold the right nose corner
Bring the upper right corner diagonally down and inward. Align the right half of the closed top edge with the vertical center crease.
Layers: Carry both layers of the top band in the right corner.
Check: A sloping edge runs from the top midpoint to a point 1.5 inches above the bottom right corner.

Fold the left nose corner
Bring the upper left corner inward in the same way, matching its top edge to the center crease.
Layers: Carry the complete left corner, including the band underneath.
Check: The model has a pointed top and a low rectangular band.

Close the right side inward
Fold the right vertical side across to the center. The vertical hinge lies 1.5 inches right of the center crease.
Layers: Move every layer on the right of that hinge, including the triangular nose layers.
Check: The right free edge reaches the center.

Close the left side inward
Bring the left vertical side to the same center line, using a hinge 1.5 inches left of center.
Layers: Move the complete left side packet.
Check: Two folded side panels meet beneath the pointed diamond at the top.

Return the right fin outward
Mark a vertical line 1 inch right of the center crease. On the right front panel, fold the inner free edge outward across this line.
Layers: Carry the complete folded right-side packet inside the mark, including its hidden triangular layers. Leave the central backing still.
Check: The returned edge projects half an inch beyond the right body edge to form a fin.

Return the left fin outward
Mirror the return fold on a vertical line 1 inch left of center.
Layers: Move the complete matching left-side packet; keep the right fin still.
Check: Two equal fins project beside the lower body.

Turn over the finished rocket
Turn the whole model over from side to side and smooth it flat for display on a card or space-themed picture.
Layers: Turn the nose, body and both fins together.
Check: A triangular nose sits above a straight body with two side fins. The flat display rocket is complete.

Adaptation: Uses the complete flat Rocket construction: cross guides, a folded top band, turnover, paired nose corners, inward side packets, outward fin returns and final turnover. The source diagram skips the printed number 3; no missing fold is invented. Paired operations and full reopenings are shown separately. On a 6-inch square, each inward side hinge is 1.5 inches from center and each fin-return hinge is 1 inch from center, giving a half-inch fin projection beyond the body. The fin-return position is an authored numerical choice for the undimensioned source. Fins carry the complete side packets, including hidden triangular nose layers. This is a flat picture, not an airplane, launchable toy or performance-tested design.

Accuracy notes
Real-paper follow-along and paper weight have not been tested. Diagrams illustrate the sequence, not paper thickness, contact, collisions or exact layer visibility. Rigid folds retain all 36 square inches and original material seams. The two fin returns carry connected folded packets rather than adding triangles or replacing the silhouette. Zero-thickness teaching geometry does not certify finite-thickness contact or physical foldability. Real-paper folding and printing have not been tested; no flight, range or stability claim is made.
